A Message from the Library Director
On Wednesday, September 30, FCL Farmington Hills was closed while we responded to an issue discovered during ongoing renovation work. We now have more information to share about the reason for the closure and the work underway to address it.
While renovating the main-level restrooms, material was discovered that could contain asbestos. Out of an abundance of caution, the building was closed so that the material could be tested and the appropriate safety measures could be put in place.
Testing confirmed that the material contains asbestos. Abatement work is now underway and is expected to continue through the weekend. The work involves the safe removal and cleanup of the asbestos-containing material.
FCL Farmington Hills will reopen once the abatement work and required environmental testing are completed.
We currently expect to reopen early next week, but we do not yet have a confirmed date. We will announce when the building is ready to reopen.
We understand that an unexpected closure can be disruptive, and we appreciate your understanding as we complete this necessary work and take the steps needed to safely reopen the building.

Service Information
FCL Farmington Hills Closure & Reopening
FCL Farmington Hills remains closed and will stay closed until the Library announces that it has reopened. We expect to reopen early next week. We do not yet have a confirmed reopening date.
When FCL Farmington Hills reopens, it will operate with temporary hours of 4–9 p.m., Monday–Thursday. These temporary hours will remain in effect through Thursday, October 8.
Returns and Holds
Please do not return materials to the Farmington Hills location until the building has reopened to avoid filling up the drive-through return. The Library does not charge late fees on materials.
Holds waiting for pickup at FCL Farmington Hills will be extended indefinitely until four days after the Library reopens. You do not need to contact the Library to extend your hold.
New holds placed on materials from the Farmington Hills location will not be processed until the building reopens.

FCL Farmington (23500 Liberty St.) remains open with normal hours and services.
