Trustee Spotlights

Our Trustee Spotlight Series introduces the dedicated individuals behind the Library’s governance. Through these features, we hope to highlight the diverse experiences, skills, and perspectives that help shape the Library’s mission: engaging our diverse community through resources and experiences that celebrate ideas, inspire creativity, and enrich lives.

This month, we are delighted to introduce Sharon Snodgrass, a Trustee representing Farmington Hills since October 2023. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees Facilities Committee.

Sharon was previously a Vice President and Trust Officer of Comerica Bank, a mathematics teacher at Northville High School, and for many years an attorney in private practice with the Livonia firm of Creighton, McLean, and Shea. She has served on various boards and commissions over the years, including the Livonia Chamber of Commerce, Farmington Hills Commission on Children, Youth and Family, Pewabic Pottery, and the YMCA.

In this Q&A session, Sharon shares a little bit about herself and her goals as a Library Board trustee.

How long have you been part of this community, and what do you value most about it?

What inspired you to join the FCL Board of Trustees?

My service as a trustee began in October 2023. I am committed to using my skills to benefit the Farmington Community Library. The strength of a library's resources serving all residents is important to maintain active and vibrant communities.

My goal as a trustee is to help amplify Library services to reach the residents who are not currently utilizing the Library's offerings. I am excited about future plans we have discussed like adding outdoor gathering spaces for patrons.

My favorite recent book is The Wide Wide Sea by Hampton Sides.

I would love to have coffee with Paul Theroux. His journeys and travels are fascinating, and you travel with him as you read.

What's a fun fact about you that people might not know?

A fun fact about me is my passion for photographing street art wherever I travel.
