March is National Reading Month, and it is the perfect time to celebrate the joy of reading at your local library! Farmington Community Library (FCL) has something for everyone. From book clubs to zine-making, we’re turning the whole month into a reading extravaganza!

Here's how you can take part in the celebration:

Visit the Library for a Reading Month Event!

Zine Making for Teens (Grades 6-12)

Celebrate Reading Month with by making your own zines! Zines are like magazines but they are independently created and distributed, usually less than 1000 copies. Zines can be about anything, so long as it has meaning to you, the creator. Learn about the ins and outs of zines and how you can share your ideas!

Book Bingo (Grades K-5)

Celebrate Reading Month with a lively game of Book Bingo! Whether you've never played Bingo before, or are an expert, we'll call the numbers and you'll be yelling B-I-N-G-O in no time.

Multicultural Storytime (Ages 3-8)

Join us for a Multicultural Storytime! Hear a story read in several languages by native speakers, and learn about their cultures with hands-on activities.

An Evening with Cheryl A. Head & Stephen Mack Jones

Join us for an evening with local award-winning crime mystery writers Cheryl A. Head and Stephen Mack Jones in partnership with Book Beat. A book signing will follow the discussion.

Join a Community of Readers

Reading is even better when it connects you with others! FCL hosts a variety of book discussion groups covering every genre under the sun—fantasy, historical fiction, sci-fi, classic literature, and more. No matter your age or reading interests, there is a group for you! Book discussions happen regularly, so check out our events calendar to see what’s coming up next and meet fellow book lovers.

Encourage Young Readers with our Reading Programs

Do you have young readers in your life? Help them build lifelong literacy skills (and win fun prizes!) by signing them up for one of our reading programs:

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

This program encourages caregivers to read aloud 1,000 books to their little ones before kindergarten. Don’t be intimidated, we help you take it one step at a time with fun celebrations recognizing your progress each year and prizes along the way to keep you motivated!

250 Books Before 6th Grade

Encourage your young readers in grades K-5 to enjoy stories and reading with this program! They'll earn a cool FCL cinch pack bag after completing the first 50 books and a $10 gift card to a local bookstore when they finish all 250 books.
